What is a Hydrosol?

A hydrosol is the aromatic water produced during the steam distillation of plants.

At Hinu Ora, we distil Kānuka to create our own Pure Kānuka Oil. During this process, steam passes through the Kānuka plant material, capturing its aromatic compounds. As the steam cools and condenses, the essential oil separates, leaving behind the beautifully aromatic botanical water known as a hydrosol.

Rather than letting this valuable co-product go to waste, we bottle it and give it another purpose.

Our Kānuka hydrosol offers a much gentler and more diluted way to enjoy the naturally fresh aroma of Kānuka – making it a handy addition to your fishing kit.

How to Use

Spray onto suitable fishing gear or surfaces and wipe clean with a rag.
